No doubt some of you have already seen this, but the current online Chicago Tribune carries an AP article of interest to the never-ending debate. Note that the Senator's a Democrat picked by the Gov. to replace Hilary. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-gillibrand-guns,0,377618.storyAs a NYT article two days ago described, she also speaks some Mandarin, having studied it in college, during which she also spent a year in Beijing. Interesting how old stereotypes don't always apply these days.

Every now and then the news gladdens my heart. As started by Sarah Brady and continued by Carolyn McCarthy blaming your personal tragedies on the vast majority of Americans who DON'T abuse firearms is inane to say the least. Go after the abusers and not the law abiding citizens is the answer. I could go on and on inre. to this subject but I know I'm preaching to the converted.

Don't hold your breath. After her own party leans on her and is ridiculed every where she goes in the Washigton liberal social circles, she will see the light and fold on this issue. But I hope for our sake she is very princpled and strong.

She said "She has said she would work to fight gun violence while still protecting hunters' rights."
Obviously my senator needs some education regarding the 2nd Amendment which has nothing to do with hunter srights.
This is the typical tactic of the anit's that want to appeal to the gun owners by stating they are for "hunters" while also talking out of the other side of thier mouth to the antis.

Right again Brian- Hunter's and lawful citizens and their 2nd. Amendment rights have NOTHING to do with gun violence. Putting the criminal element away for life with no parole is the first step. Amazing isn't it, how the crime rate drops in areas where citizens "carry"- I hope this Senator does better than HRC-and avoids the "Potomac Two-Step" prevalent in Crime Central USA- aka- Our Nation's Capital.

I am well aware that the new junior senator from New York has been touted as a strong supporter of 2nd Amendement rights and the NRA; however, I have zero faith that any New York senator will do anything to support the Second Amendment or conservative principals. And further, I have the exact same opinion of all elected Senators from the northeastern US; they have repeatedly demonstrated from their actions over many years that they are all self-serving socialists with no regard for protecting any individual right/s perceived as counter to their self-serving purposes.
