That is Franz Jaeger's(GGCA Mr. Apel's Grandfather) 1st invention/patent while in NY:

Franz's Uncle, mother's brother, was Gustav Kersten, inventor of the Kersten lock-up, Prussian army armorer. The other fella isn't Gustav Bittner of Wiepert, but the brothers Carl and Edmond of The Gun Improvement Company. Bittiner brothers had 12/25 ths of U.S. Patent 663,545. By 1907 Carl Bittiner returned to Luttich, Germany. But Mr. Apel either has an example or a pic of an example. There might be one in the GGCA's publication.
