Chop, no, tungsten is way hard. However, if the shot/bullet was made as a soft-coat-over-core, IMO it could be perfectly OK. We are not there yet, to my knowledge, but there seems to exist the possibility. Say we made core shot of a tin/tungsten mix/alloy and then copper plated it. Then we would could have a pellet of lead density(0.41#/cubic inch), made with tin and tungsten (0.264 #/cubic inch plus 0.697 #/cubic inch), plated with a suitable thickness of copper (0.323 #/cubic inch) to prevent barrel damage in the event of barrel-pellet contact. Of course, there may be many other choices of modern plastics for the matrix.
