This rifle may look a little odd with the long forearm and short barrel but IMO it's a great one. I'm working on photos of SRG rifles so thought I'd post one. This is the rifle on the cover of my book. Back to work!

Nice moose! Though why why why such a long forearm? I think, Michael, that I am beginning to be able to identify rifles that appeal to you. It might be hard to quantify precisely, but I think I have a pretty good feel for your taste....

Brent, I'm easy to buy for, Take one part Circassian walnut, A pre-1940 American Custom gunmaker, some rust blue and a little Kornbrath engraving and I'm happy.

Michael, that is a fine looking Mannlicher stocked '03. I have a real soft spot for that style of stock.

I could perhaps quibble about the forearm length, but for my money.......nobody improved upon Seymour's treatment from action back to butt. I think his grip and butt are perfect.
I particularly like the double radius of the upper grip area of a 1903 Springfield. Very subtle.....and very nice.

It looks to me as if the rifle with the long forearm and short barrel was a working rifle, perhaps after moose & bear in thick brush. I think it's a dandy. Was there a sling swivel on the forearm?

There is no sling swivel up front and there never was one. I have run across quite a few pre-1940 custom rifles with only a rear sling swivel, not sure of the reason why.
