Bullets (lead) were usualy on the light side, 19-22 grams, with flat point or hollow point. Bullet diameter from 11.65mm to 11.85mm. Traditional load was caseful of black powder.
It seems to me that the ancient 11.6x60R/.450 Express (Short) could be roughly compared to modern .44 Mag as far as hunting performance is concerned.
