I don't think it is but the forend and engraving on that gun wouldn't be attractive to me at any price. I bought an early 90's 20 gauge Grulla (not a two barrel set) for half that price.

approximate value is (1400+2100)/2+1050=.......your call. its almost never worthwhile to shop at fancy smancy specialty dealer for sxs shotgun.

Thanks Skip, but an extra barrel would be at least $2000.00...did you get a case and canvas cover with yours? If not, there's the extra amt?
I agree, it is about a third over priced, but in line with what I have been looking at elsewhere. I would like some suggestions as to where I might find a comparable 2 barrel set w/ case, for less?
I really appreciate your input, binko

Other than from a private individual who's not looking to make a profit, you probably won't do much better--especially by the time you bargain a bit with the dealer. I'd say a decent starting price, if it's a gun you're interested in. Always good to check gunsinternational etc for a little comparison shopping on prices (mostly from other dealers).

I do not think it is a bad deal. It is a little above the most inexpensive engraving IMHO and it is a round action. However the stock dimensions are a little low and long and the gun will be butt heavy. The short bbls do not help the value.

P.S I just ordered an Arrieta Round Action 557 for 5K. It is a round action with 30" bbls in 28 ga.
In the above post I meant that the dimensions are not for the average guy, making it kind of a Cinderella item.

If you like the gun and think it is a third over priced make the dealer an offer at what you think is a fair price. Maybe you will find some common ground. If he says no then see if the gun is still around a couple of months from now and maybe try again. While I am no expert on gun values it sure seems like a lot of gun for the price to me. Think about it. What like new 20-ga., two barrel set, fully engraved gun with very nice wood and an oak and leather case are you going to buy for $2,850.00.

Factor in what you will have to pay a good wood guy to take a rasp to re-shape and re-checker that front wood. That is a pretty ugly combination right there. Best, Ted
