I can only speak of what I PERSONALLY witnessed. I must admit it is a little dated, but that doesn't make it any less true to the point of judging quality. Are we to just ignore what happened in the past, I always thought past performance was a big factor in judging a product.
I'm old now, and my skeet shooting days were in the later 60's and early 70's, and I actually shot a lot of skeet with an 1100, mostly reloads, and can truthfully say, I never had a malfunction. We found the secret was to only clean the gas tube with 0000 steel wool, never oil, which would cause jams. I shot quite a bit with a fellow that was Grand National Champion 3 times, and all he owned was 1100's with factory mounted Cutts Compensators. I'm sure someone out there may remember his name, Mr. George Vicknair, and I know he's listed as a previous champion somewhere in the records.
In my era, I can tell you it, the 1100, was at least 90% the gun of choice for Skeet, but it did not hold true for the Trap shooters, they shot mostly Over & Under Brownings, Kreighoffs, etc. on doubles, and single shots with 32" tubes for handicap.
I guess like all things, times have changed, but like someone said, "Those that forget the past are destined to repeat it."
So, that concludes my rant, ya'll carry on.
