OK, why not the Pachmayr Old English? It's red, it's soft, it's 1" thick, it's easy to find, it looks good, and it doesn't have plugs to worry about. Don't know if it has a large cavity that would make grinding it down troublesome, but that's easy to check out.

Yup, they have a very wide cavity, so that's out.

What about a repro Hawkins pad? Tiny plugs that you could glue in before cutting slits for the new screw position. No cavity to interfere with grinding to size. Reddish, 1" thick (I just measured mine, but the CSMC listing says 1-1/16").

Interesting. And I'm looking at the CSMC site and also see a NoShok pad that I hadn't seen before. I had a NoShok pad on another Parker I had and liked it a lot, very rubbery. Maybe I'll just have to get creative with the screw hole spacing and plugging one of the original holes.

Dean, I would check in to the Noshoc, I have 3 originals that are takeoffs and the hole spacing is 3", ditto for the red winchester repros. The problem with using a Pachmayr old english is that they have a metal stiffener that you might grind into. I have a Noshoc that has been cut down to 1 1/2 x 4 3/8 and is too small for any practical use, you are welcome to it if you want it, just email your address and I will mail it to you. My email is in my profile.

Francis, it is a Parker Repro with beavertail, PG and double triggers.

Jim, thank you, I'll do just that.

Best, Dean
