I'd be willing to bet he has deer, deer in spades. But, little else I imagine. And he is well aware of the dearth of proper hunting species (save his beloved crows) in his part of the world. What I like is, when handed lemons, the guy attemps lemonade. Best, Ted

Yes, with a longer grayer beard and bags under my eyes. ...but I must thank the Frenchmen's cognac for warming my innards so. I'll check on my parents and the woods tomorrow. Perhaps a fat goose if the road isn't too icy(I've a Carolla you know) - but today, I'll buy a Christmas Tree. The spirit is coming to me.

Buy a Christmas Tree???? You live in MO and don't have sufficient cedars to cut a proper Christmas Tree?? As a kid I always felt sorry for the kids who had to make do with store bought pine trees when everyone knew a cedar was proper for a Christmas Tree!! Ah!! You jest!!

Lowell:
Your contributions have been, odd though it may seem to some, missed.
Welcome back - whats your news from central Missouri?

I had sheared a cedar over the last year in hopes of cutting it for Christmas, but with all the ice didn't think I could get to it. They make a great tree and have a nice smell to 'em. Maybe next year eh!

Greg, having a thaw today and tomorrow, so I'll go up to see if the back roads are clear of ice. Might have to borrow Dad's Chevy 4x4 SUV tho. The Woods is not the easiest place to get to with these conditions. One year an ice storm like this last one, ended my season.
If the sun doesn't shine on your rock road, you don't go.
