How much original wood on Ithaca 4E Knick?

In general, how long was the original wood on an Ithaca 4E Knick?

I am looking at a 4E offered by a dealer and I want to try to estimate if the stock was cut.

Ithaca had a standard set of dimensions for the Knick, but on request would incorporate custom dimensions within reasonable limits. The buyer could also specify the trigger position, which will toy with the length of the stock. All this is to say that there is no definitive number that can be thrown out, but the wood on a gun made for stock will be 15.5-15.75" or thereabouts

I think my original question was inartful.

I know how to measure the LOP, so I want to know the LOP from the trigger to the wood on a standard stock (my guess is about 13.25-13.5, so that with a 1.125 inch pad the LOP would be good for the average shooter)

Where would I measure to see if the wood was 15.5-15.75 as sugested above.

Lou - your numbers are correct if measuring the wood w/o the pad. And my numbers for the total length of the wood from the rear of the receiver should have read to the back end of the wood should have been 14.5-14.75". Sorry about that. Your LOP values are the simpler way to go.

I checked out the 4E.

Receiver and stock were both nicely refinished.

I am a bit skittish, however, about paying full price for a refinished gun.
