Justin,
It is in the link to the Lefever site. I will repeat it here:
Joesph W Livingston was a foreman for Nichols and LeFever in Syracuse NY from 1877-1879. Nichols and Lefever went out of business in 1879. He did not join Uncle Dan in the new LeFever Arms Co., but opened his own business, but was at the same address as John Nichols. Livingston moved to Cazenovia (not far from Syracuse) in 1882. He advertised himself as a gunmaker and repairer. His guns were clearly made from Nichols and LeFever parts.
Patents he held:

http://www.google.com/patents?id=JfRnAAAAEBAJ&dq=227907Besides Nichols & Lefever he also worked for circa 1882 Will Cruttenden & prior to 1876 Parker Bros. Then as DrBob states, he opened his own shop.
He is an American gunmaker who has not been well documented and researched. It would be interesting to compare a Nichols & Lefever to this one. If complete pictures of the lock internals, etc were available.
This is a Barber & Lefever 14ga.
This is a Nichols & Lefever 10ga
Hopefully, some one will be able to add to this information.
