oh there is nothing wrong with them but lets face it they have become vestigial part on newly made rifles. sometimes one sees horrendous things like mauser modell 66 in kal. .458winmag with set trigger. that is about as useful as having modern german .470 double elephant rifle with large sliding thingy on tang that you have to push forward to cock it prior to firing. veeery

My recently-almost-completed Mauser conversion to 223 Rem (repeater) has the finest set of 2-lever DSTs installed on it that I've ever seen or handled (PME/Wisner). One of my present projects is another Mauser ELW blind-mag 6.5mm with the second-best set I've ever seen (Anschutz). Obsolete? Maybe, but they're still way cool and I'm gonna have 'em if at all possible on most rifles except DGRs. Regards, Joe

From Col. Hanevik:
To my knowledge, no Krags were ever delivered from the factory with set triggers. Still, individuals may have had rifles built with such triggers, but I do not remember having handled any such rifles. I guess this was more common in Denmark, as in Norway, shooters had to use regulation triggers (and consequently regulation triggerpull weight) in competitions.
