The Daly turned out as well as I expected. I didn't try to remove all of the character marks from the wood. I did remove as many of the dents as I could but if there was a minor stain here and there, it stayed. The gun is 100 years old and it shouldn't be perfect.
This Daly has 28" barrels and weights 6lbs 4oz with the leather covered pad. It also balances exactly on the hinge pin. The chokes are .007 right barrel and .026 left. It should make for an ideal upland gun.
The finish that I used on the Daly is Laurel Mountain Forge Permalyn. It's not so much what I use as how I apply it... Thank you Bounty paper towels.
Glenn and I will be at the Southern this year hanging around Ken Hurst's table so if you get a chance stop by and say hello. Glenn is going to bring his "new" Lefever and I'll have the Daly and also my Fox for some fun in the (I hope)sun. I'm REALLY tired of winter!
