Larry, I think that the rampant lion over PV just means nitro proof. As far as I know it is the standard mark on all nitro proof guns; PV means Poudre Vivre. Superior nitro proof is either a crown over PV or PV in an oval with a crown above and a laurel wreath around the oval. If the laurel wreath is missing it would be standard proof. That gun will have been made when modern type 3" magnum ammo was not around. Lagopus.....
