Note that "IF" one got absolute uniform shot distribution a 40% pattern at 40yds would produce a 71% pattern (30" circle) at 30 yds while it would only take one of 24% to give the 61% pattern. since patterns are normally denser in the center these would likely pattern better than these figures at 40yds.
If you look at Devrep's actual patterns you will quickly see the pattrns in the 20" circle at 25yds are much more indicative of the choke constriction than those in the 30" circle. The purpose of using the 30" circle at 25yds for a "Skeet" gun are just that, to indicate the best coverage at skeet ranges. As pertains to actual choke percentages a .410 should be patterened in the 20" circle at 25yds. A check at 40yds with a .410 is for the most part useless. A 20" circle at 25yds is proportionate to a 32" one at 40yds while a 30" circle at 25yds is proportionate to a 48" one at 40yds. "Think" people "Think"!! I don't even own a .410 & don't want one, but they're not so bad as to give the same percentages in the same size circle 15yds closer in (5/8 of the range).
