Quality not quanity. Some engraving is just executed better than others even within "factory standard" whether it be on an Ithaca or a Holland. I read somewhere that Holland standard acanthus took twice as long to complete as Purdy standard rose and scroll, possibly one to two weeks to finish a Holland. Who knows what length of time it took for a nontypical pattern? Art is very subjective. Does it really matter how long the engraving took to complete, if it its layed out and executed well? Maybe the Mona Lisa was painted in a day.
