I'm pretty sure the forearms are exactly the same length, but I'll measure them tonight just to be sure.

The forearms are exactly the same length, 8 3/4 inch from the end of the forearm iron to the end of the tube that holds the pushbutton.

Width across breechballs -- 28-ga 1 29/32 inch, 20-ga 2 1/32 inch, 16-ga 2 5/32 inch.

Width of frame just ahead of the standing breech -- 28-ga 1 17/32 inch, 20-ga 1 19/32 inch, 16-ga 1 23/32 inch.

Width of forearm iron -- 28-ga 1 17/32 inch, 20-gauge 1 19/32 inch, 16-ga 1 21/32 inch.

My RBL-12 will be a real beast, 32-inch vent rib and beavertail, but sticking with the 4x straight grip stock and double triggers.

Researcher - thanks; appreciate the data! I'm climbing off the fence shortly. What type of wood did you select for your Launch Edition? Black Walnut?

I seem to recall Lou having me sold on Claro for the Launch Edition 20-gauge, but the stock sure looks like Juglans nigra to me.

Bill - Some people reported CSMC let them specify the buttplate instead of the interchangeable pad system. Expect that will save some weight.

I've been thinking about ordering one of the 16s. I'd definitely order the buttplate, and also would ask for the style of stock shown in their advertising. In a thread on SSBB a fellow unhappy with the change got a receptive hearing from CSMC and, he thought they might come through with a switch to that style for him. Sounded like he was unhappy enough with the delivered stock to otherwise return the gun for a refund.

I wonder if they're using the same stock/pad system on both the 12 and 16 ga. guns. They may be saving some cost that way.
