I recently saw a choke marking on an Ithaca shotgun "#2 Skeet". I know that Winchester used the terminology "Winchester Skeet 2" to describe a choke quite a bit tighter than the normal skeet choke. Did Ithaca have a similar designation? This is a Target Grade Model 37 made in 1954

The two Ithaca skeet guns I have are both marked just S on each barrel flat, but the left barrels are condsiderably tighter then the rights -- 12 ga .009" right and .016" left (1936), 20-gauge .008" right and .014" left (1935).

Thanks for trying. I'll try to show the gun to Walt Snyder the next time I see him. The mark looks very original and the gun is very high condition. Walt, are any Model 37T guns included in the factory records in your possession. If so, maybe we can see whether this gun is a two barrel set with one barrel missing. However, my 1954 20 gauge 37S two barrel set does not have a marking indicating the two barrel feature. Bill Murphy

The two barrel 37S 20 gauge is #84,309. The 12 gauge 37T is #564,348. Thanks for your help, Walt.

Just bringing this to the top for Walt so he won't have to search for it. Murphy
