Henry Cartwright was apprenticed to Isaac Walker in 1805 and later became his foreman. He bought the business when Isaac Walker retired in 1841.

Between 1859 and 1862 he retired or died and William Cartwright (nephew) traded at the same address until 1880. Edwin Wilson was employed as his foreman.

William Cartwright sold the business in 1880 to Edwin Wilson who carried on the business until 1905.

By 1905 the business may have been known as H Wilson (son? - guns bearing the name H Wilson have been seen), it was then sold to Charles S Rosson (by then Charles S Rosson & Son) of 4 Market Head, Derby.
