Mag. 10 NIDs didn't come in grade 1 1/2. Was it a Flues?

Walt,

Since I didn't record the data I may remember it wrong. At that time I had a 32" 12ga NID w/ indicators, a 12ga Flues w/ 30" and a 12ga Flues with 28" barrels so I could have easily misremembered.

Grade 1? Field?

WOW It looks like it should have come with the original box SWEERT!!
I wish I could find more information on these babies.

If you are interested in selling a box of shells please drop me a note at jess@jessleephotos.com. They would look great with the Field Grade ejector (upgraded wood) I picked up a couple of months ago. If you don't want to sell any I wouild be happy to "lease" a box for a photo shoot.

Thanks for sharring.

CJO, several years ago, I bought a bunch of steel 3 1/2" tens at about five bucks a box. At that price, I made a decision to do all of my waterfowl shooting with a mag ten until those five dollar shells were gone. It has been a struggle some days to carry the big gun, but the up side is some of the shots I have made. My gun of choice for the steel shells is an AYA lightweight ejector with case colored receiver and factory buttplate. At 9 1/2 pounds or less, it isn't too much of a burden.

Bill,

Twenty some years ago I got to meet old Ellwood Epps,...sort of a legend around these parts, he had already sold his store and was running a mail order business,..I guess he was selling old ammo to collectors, and more than a few guns that he had hanging from the rafters of his high ceiling ,...he grabbed a long pole with a hook at the end of it and brought down a big sidelock English double and said this is what you want for ducks!....if you've never shot ducks with a ten you're missing out on some real shooting.
As luck would have it I later ended up with that gun and shot it for years,..still have it, put a lot of lead and Bismuth reloads through it and made some wonderful shots on big Canadas, then one day on a rainy field shoot a bit of mud got in to the right muzzle and well you know the rest ,..the shot sounded funny and after the goose came down I noticed a piece the size of my small finger nail missing from the muzzle and a 1" crack that ran straight back, 32" is now 30",....and no chokes.
So I have been looking for a replacement for some time and now I've found it,....if it all goes according to plan It will be coming out west with me this fall,.....Geese look out!

The taste of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.........

Guys,

Don't get too excited about buying those shells if the owner is willing to sell. You'll have a hard time figuring out how to ship them over the border. It's easier to cross a gun from Canada via post than it is ammo.

Destry

P.S. That's a hell of a gun by the way, and the shells are a real find as well.
