The problem I see is that a fair amount of pressure could go from the barrel to the space between the ribs. I don't think that's a good idea. I suspect I would experience loose ribs and seperation of the barrels after a short while. In addition, there is no good way to clean that area between the ribs. My motto has always been "Better safe than sorry!"
