Hi all, I'm not at all familar with Parker Repos at all. This one just caught my eye. Fair deal or not?

Also, any problems with the SST found on these guns?

Thanks!

All the best!

Greg

To me it's not a great deal. The 26" barrels will disinterest many people, and the SST is a negative too.

What is the deal?

Some have found the SST to balk, but generally a good cleaning of the trigger to get out the old sticky oil well cure the problem. Finding one with double triggers will eliminate these concerns.

These are excellent guns.

Excuse me, the deal was posted while I was typing.
I strongly disagree with Greg.
I would consider the 20/16 set and good deal. There were very few of these made with the extra set of 16 gauge barrels.

Pre-recession, I've seen these 20/16 bi-gauge sets sell for two grand more than their asking price, so this seems to me to be a very fair price...this one has nice wood too, which is even mo' better yet.

Like which was previously mentioned, the Parker Repros which had single trigger problems often was caused by congealed oil, a proper cleaning usually resolved the problem.

The dislike of single triggers is not one related to malfunctioning, but rather a famous treatise written in the early 19th century by the renowned German philosopher Hegel. In it, he questions the existence of man within nature and suggests that mankind is devolving, rather than evolving. While many academia over the past 200 years have suggested his assertions lie wholly based in fundamentalism, they all agree that he was completely right about one thing - in no case should a double gun have only one trigger. There's no way a little oil and a little cleaning will fix that.

Good Grief!

Two Hundred years ago they were shooting flintlocks! I doubt there was such a thing as a single trigger double barrel shotgun, and frankly the last person I would discuss the merits of a shotgun with would be "Acedemia". So, I guess it boils down to choosing your own "expert", and I'll take Elmer Keith, and Major Atkins over Hegel. Lon

A single trigger is not something I would want in a game gun but is okay for clays shooting, be it skeet or sporting. I think that $6K price is very good for a $7K Repro.

Certainly a good deal. This combo will only go up in value over the years.
