Thanks guys, I actually prefer the Damascus barrels and the beautiful wood on the Cabelas gun. I will have the gun sent to Kirk Merrington for evaluation, if everything checks out I will have my first 10ga. Does anyone make a low pressure 10ga shell that would be safe to fire in this gun? -JB

I believe RST is producing good ammunition in 2 7/8" length.
I too prefer the Cablea's gun by a long shot. Yes, it's a "plain" gun but just reeks with quality. And it doesn't appear to be abused. The only screw that shows any sign of turning is on the floorplate. The dolls head fits perfect. The wood looks to be well headed up. Wish it didn't have the repaired chip on the forend but it is what it is.
Go for it! I doubt you'll have any regrets. And 10 gauges are a hoot to shoot. My loads are for 1 1/4 oz and 1 1/2 oz of shot. Great patterns and very short shot string. Real zapper on ducks and geese.....and Spring turkeys.

 Buy a set of Gauge Mate Silvers and modify the rim. I shoot allot of 12 ga. out of mine for play and load 10 ga. to hunt with. Anyone have a clue as to the age of the other Daly I have a buddy that's interested in it. You think it's pre 1898 ? The serial number is 3603 http://www.bobjonesguns.com/details.asp?id=4480S

#3603 is a circa-1890 gun. It should NOT have either 1892 German proofs nor a country of origin stamp ("PRUSSIA"). It should be marked with HAL's earlier crown over crossed pistols mark and have the A&D brevet mark on the breech face.

The stock drop at heel appears to be excessive on the Bob Jones gun posted above.

I'm not seeing a 10ga to 12ga adapter ?.....
The split in the 10ga to 12ga is what makes them work so well. I can shoot all day and never know they are in the gun.
The solid ones I've tried (12ga to 20ga) are a pain in the but because they are always falling out.

Joe, do you mean that when the Gauge Mates are split they stick in the chamber and the ejector catches the hull? If so, sounds neat to me...

The split allows you to spring them to fit your chamber. They raise up and down with the extractor....the spot shown that's grinded allows you to easily remove the hull with a flick or your finger nail.
