J.B., how were the chambers measured? "Standard" length back then seems to have been 2 7/8", which is awfully close to 3" and only a slight error in measuring could give you 3". Also, there was no firm standard back then so they could have been 3" originally. Suggest you don't let this kill the deal until you have a closer examination. Now, if they were 3 1/2" or so it would indicate the chambers had been lengthened....but not here. This gun just looks too clean to pass.

3" would not be a deal killer if the chambers looked unaltered, the forcing cones were ok and wall thickness was sufficient.

Check the measurement very carefully. Did you use one of those brass chamber length tools? If the chamber/forcing cone are just a couple thousandths oversize you will show a longer chamber. I consider those tools 'For Reference Only'.

Take any ten gauge barrel set, off the gun, with the extractors in the "in" position. A 12 gauge shell fits right in the chamber, a little deep, but not beyond the rim recess.

Ever run out of 10ga ammo or grab the wrong box on the way to the blind? A little tape wrapped around a 12 gauge shell to center it in the chamber and it will work fine in a 10ga. It will split every shell but it will still kill ducks dead.

jOey, you were wrong. It is obvious without pics. If you think you are some how making your point because no one will give in to your demand for pics, you are again, wrong.

PS Eightbore and I have never met, nor are we 'buddies', we just know a braggart and a bore when we see one.

I don't carry any tape to the blind, but 12 gauge ammunition can be shot in a 10 gauge gun without tape or inserts. The method is to lay the shells on the extractor and carefully close the gun so that the shell centers in the chamber as the gun is closed, being careful to avoid letting the shell get under the extractor. I have used the 12 in a 10 trick to kill a few ducks. Just last season, I caused a couple of shooting buddies to huddle in the opposite end of a shore blind after I loaded a pair of 12s in my 10 gauge AYA.
