I am in the process of inputting some remaining Ithaca invoices into a data base and came across an interesting order. In 1934, a man from Freeville, NY ordered a 16 ga. Ithaca Lefever A Grade with 24 1/2 inch barrels. Goes to show some odd things were factory original. Just thought this may be of interest especially to Ithaca collectors.

Tool man,
For some reason I don't get PMs. I deleted all my old ones but yours and others don't appear. Please e-mail me.

It always amazes me that they were willing to produce "custom" guns without any extra charge.

In 1934 most gun makers had one foot in the grave and would be very happy to make a minor change to get a sale. Money was still tight in 1934, with the increase in pump and auto sales every double gun sale was important.

Sounds like a real fast handling gun to me. MOI might be at the end of the scale.

I thought that the "A" was introduced in 1935? Or was 1934 the first year? Does the order list any chokes on the short barrels? Thanks. Wonder what made him decide on the 1/2"... almost like it had to fit 'somewhere'.

I am dismayed that the chokes were not listed on the invoices. Sure wish they were!
The A grade was introduced in 1934. A great gun by the way, especially with BT and ejectors!!
