My friend John Wills and I headed off to the “Fort” (100 miles south of Anchorage) for a couple days shooting Wednesday. It was and is still hot as heck, now this may not seem like anything to the rest of the world but last year we had about three days during the summer above 70 degrees. It was in the mid-80’s both days. Alaska is on fire and the state is under a blanket of smoke, the rivers are rising, fun in paradise ;-).

Anyway back to shooting I took the Ross King-Pope 1903. I removed the Weaver 330 and replaced the rings with 1” ones and mounted the only modern scope I own, a Unertl Hawk 4X. I did all my shooting at 50 yards to try out some different bullets and with the 4-power scope I could see the larger 200 yard benchrest targets OK. I used nothing but 16.0 grains of SR 4759 and Remington Large rifle primers. All loading was done with an old Lyman 310 tool.
