I'm justtrying to determine whether it is necessary to refinish the entire buttstock,or if the oval can be inlet without having to do the additional (pay for) work.

Gentlemen,I've ask BLhands if he will post a couple of my Photos of how I make the Ovals' 14k Yellow Gold, Also 99.99etc/Silver. African Ivory. and for the Family Mossburg "Pure Brass", Parker Shields are a Pain' but look nice and Original in the Auction Catlgs.Individual Letters Made and inletted to the Stock/ Forend Wood,See examples on Purdeys Web-Site. are very time consuming, Barrys "Scratchin" really finish's the 'Dirty-Hands part of my work, and brings out the "Ooo-Arrrs" from the Clients'

FrancOtte, Barry and "Self" are a little Puzzled by your observations, Maybe you dont understand the'Process" of Inletting a "New" Stock-Oval? Do the words'Work in progress' "Job not finished" give you any indication to what is being said here? Your 'Cyber Observation' is showing a slight build-up of"Stockers Hand-Snot" and engravers'Thumb-Junk' cc'Maker' blh 'Graver'.

J.B.Patton, If I install a 'Oval'or Individual letters in a stock that is "Finished,ie. Polished,I have a "process" that allows me to match stock finishes'. It a lot easier on a Re-Stocker of course,but when the oval has been previously engraved,Monogram etc,"Great care has to be used". I dont find it necessary to completely refinsh the stock. cc/dt

In step 15 you "inked" the monogram. I also noticed on the Holland & Holland video, that the engaver inked the finished engraving. What is the ink (or whatever it is) that is used to do this process?
I enjoyed your article in DGJ on the beautiful 3-sisters gunmaking business.

Thank you gentlemen, and mr. bushveld, H&H has been trying to steal my act for years, hehe,I use speedball 3450 ink.
I think 3550 is good also, as I recall.
