Scott has level 3 Brand Value (BV3). This gun was surely of best work grade, so, it is an Original Quality grade one (OQ1). That leaves only Current Condition level for establishing a value estimate. BV3-OQ1-CC4 = $8000 where CC4 is defined as "heavy use, but no abuse." BV3-OQ1-CC5 = $6,000 where CC5 is defined as "minor repairs needed or restoration accomplished." BV3-OQ1-CC6 = $4,450 where CC6 is defined as "shootable but needs some repairs and refinishing." And, BV3-OQ1-CC7 = $3,100 where CC7 is defined as "Shootable but needs repairs or restoration."

So, what do we think for CC level? The sleeving indicates damaged barrels or use beyond CC4 - ding. The sleeving seems to fall short of acceptable restoration - ding. The chipped screw slots indicate sub-standard work and indicate needed inspection and, at minimum, repair of the slots - ding. The wood and checkering restoration looks acceptable. The engraving looks better than very heavy use would usually allow, so we may have had mostly barrel abuse. Unfortunately, the damascus barrels are gone and, practically, unreplacable; could we, under any reasonable circumstances ever consider this gun fully restored with sleeved barrels? With Teague lined barrels? I'm going for CC6.5 (BV3-OQ1-CC6.5) which would value it at around $3,750.

Please, lets have some commentary on the above. I find this a very interesting case to study.
