NiklasP: Have you had any joy on getting to the site for the 1963 Gunsmithing text by Roy F. Dunlap, http://books.google.com/books?id=7Ab12fH...shotgun&lr= ?

Were the tubes typically made of Swedish steel made in Germany and imported into Sweden? Is there a typical forcing cone length for Swedish guns and what might that length be?

Kind Regards,

Raimey

Raimey,

I did get to readable text this time. Had to go back to "Index" and start over.

At least some barrels on my pre-WW2 Husqvarna sidelock hammer doubles are marked "Sandvik", a factory in Sweden. Have always assumed that ment "Made in Sweden". Others have no such marking or any marking that directly indicates who made barrels.

Niklas

As long as we speak of steel barrels the barrels was normally allways made at HVA from Swedish steel, there are some imported barrels but they are very very few....

Most of HVA used the length of forcing cones as the rest of europe and that is 8-10mm before the second world war later it was 10-13mm, but the modell 310X has longer as it was a pigeon gun.
