What are the opinions if the Gibbs Rifle Company's new/old 03A4 Sniper Rifle?

Bill, I looks pretty nice. They are made from old Remington 03A3 receivers, new barrels, new Type C stocks, and a reproduction Weaver 330 scope and Redfield mounts.

It's your money- If you want one buy one!
We'll need a range report!
Good shooting.

I not sure that I will buy one, but I would rather buy one of them than some of the new rifles that are offered for the same money. At least the 03A4 would have a bit of character about it that many of the new rifles in that price range will never have.

I would rather have my friend's 03A3 with scope blocks and a big Unertl hung on top. It's not a collector's item either, but at least I can see the bullet holes.

it sure aint a "sporting rifle". Damn, Steve, they never said it was! It is what it is, a WWII sniper rifle. I would say that I could kill as many deer with it a 300 yards as with one of your fine Custom Rifles, if I wanted to use it for that. My Dad's old 03A1 Sporter will still do it. Bill, if I had one, I guess I could mount my Lyman 10X TargetSpot on it. ;^)

I am not sure about the price or accuracy of the Gibbs rifle, but National Match Armory builds highly accurized Springfield, and Garand, target rifles, Kreiger barrels, etc. that typically shoot closer than 1 MOA. They have on occsion built replica Garand, and I think A4 Springfield, snipers to customers orders. It is another option to consider if you decide you really have to have an A4 replica. Check out their Springfields and Garands at http://www.nationalmatcharmory.com/
