I apologize for the delay…I hope to have show pictures up this weekend at the latest.

Unfortunately; we have some pressing medical issues occurring on my wife’s side of the family that require our immediate attention and most of our time.

I was amazed at the winning scores in the SxS rifle competitions.
My score in the stalking rifle was 123 (71+52 yet official score on the Vintager website shows 115?)...all the winners in both stalking & stopping were 200+ scores. So, I have some room for improvement. (Honestly there are 5 to 6 guys that are typically high guns...they are all exceptional marksman who obviously perform well under pressure.)

Doug Turnbull was amazing on the stopping rifle range shooting the “absolute” high score of 218 with his well traveled custom 1886 475 Turnbull Lever gun.

Doug only loads two at a time and reloads the rifle like everybody else.

This keep it fair and reload time sits between the SxS rifles and the single shots that were in the competition.

The doubles are faster to reload especially since the lever requires a thoughtful reload based upon the position of the carrier after the second shot.

The gun makes the power requirement for the class (400+ grain bullet at over 2000 fps) but it only has a single barrel so he was disqualified and was not given the opportunity to score for a trophy.

The bottom line for me….if I ever needed a cool headed marksman with a stopping rifle to clean up a mistake…..Doug would be my first pick especially if he was packing that lever gun.
