Purchased a Cal.257/ Model 98 bolt action rifle built by Dubiel Arms Co. The gun, according to the nephew of the original owner, was made for his uncle around 1940 so I presume it was done by John Dubiel. Living in Oklahoma, I am familiar with the Dubiel Arms Co that built custom rifles during the 1980's and slightly acquainted with John Dubiel, but am trying to determine if he inscribed his rifles "Dubiel Arms Co". I have not been able to find any information to determine a history or value of this gun. Any information you could give would be appreciated.

I looked at a rifle marked Dubiel Arms Co., Ardmore, OK, two weeks ago that was undoubtably a later gun built by Joe Dubiel. Possibly he was using his father's old roll stamps or a leftover barrel of John's. John was dead by 1940.
Nickels55, did you buy your gun from an Indiana owner?

No. The original owner was from Oklahoma. He was a oilman, real estate speculator, loan shark..get the picture. I also purchased a chromed Colt 1911 with shoulder holster, his everyday gun that was mfg in 1921-1923. My rifle does not include "Ardmore,OK".

You're here now so ask your questions but first we need some pictures. Is there a number after Dubiel Arms Co, and if so what is it. Is Caliber 257 the 257 Roberts? Your timing is good I am just finishing up a John Dubiel article.
