Ben-T I use a radial arm saw rigged up with a jig to hold the stock. I also use a finer toothed blad to prevent chipping on the edges. I wrap the stock with electrical tape to also prevent chipping on the edge of the cut. I always start my cut into the bottom (toe side) rather than on the comb. I have done several stocks this way having no issues with chipping using this method. Next time I finish making a stock I will take some pictures of the process. I would rather use a good handsaw but I have not found one I liked well enough. I have heard about a Japanese type of saw that cuts on the draw rather than the stroke. From what I have heard they are good for preventing chipping on the final cut. However, I have yet to find a place that sells them.
