I couldn't take it and had to email them and tell them what it was. I am appalled that they are allowed to advertise as anything resembling "gun experts".I only wish I lived close enough or was rich enough to fly out there and talk to them face to face.Incredible.

I emailed them early this morning, lets not forget at one time none of us ever heard of a double barreled shotgun.

That was both astonishingly stupid and hysterically funny. However, in fairness, some of the Cabela's Gun Libraries are run by extremely knowledgable gun guys and hunters. The company has suffered from their rapid expansion in recent years, and has had trouble building out an experienced staff to keep up with their new stores.
I know it's easy to bash the "Big Box," but I'll bet Cabela's has turned more Americans into gun owners, and has created more interest in old, collectible guns, than any other single vendor in the world. I believe that, as collectors and hunters, our hobbies would be in a lot more trouble without them on the scene. TT

I'm inclined to give much more credit to GunsAmerica and the net as a whole for introducing more people to SxSs, vintage and contemporary.

I think that within a year you will see many of the gun rooms go away with Cabelas.
You watch!

I agree. There's a similar catharsis now in the Swiss watch industry as sales decline.

It will take Cabella's years to dispose of the guns they have in stock today. As long as widow ladies continue to sell them guns, the gun libraries will be there.

They are absolutely overloaded. I look for them to have an auction soon to get out of this. People go nuts at auctions and pay way too much; they would do well to consider it. JR

I was just in the Wheeling West Virginia gun room. There was not one gun in the entire room that I would have brought home. None. Over priced, tired, beat up, over priced, refinished being sold as mint or like new. You name it they had it. Everything except a gun near worth the asking price. If the entire system is clogged with the same low quality, high priced guns they will never make it. Knowledge will only take you so far and they seem to lack too much of that. So even if they last years who cares. Their stock is of very questionable value and the web is very easy to surf. Honest dealers exist who have decent guns and know how to list and sell them. It just takes money.

Having been on the other side of the counter(where I had to answer to the owner for my buying and selling),I suspect that those that are buying the guns-and pricing/writing the ads, have no skin in the game and do not have to answer for the final profit/loss on their actions."Punch in/punch out pay day is Friday" who cares what happens in between. The few that know guns are cherry picking the widows and divorce's prime pickings (or using a buddy to do it for them). All thats left is the over priced or ridden hard and put away wet for the customers.
