I have a drilling (16/9.3x72R) with maker's name O.G. Scherrell, Berlin. The serial number is clear and is stamped on the barrels, the action, and the forend metal. I'm assuming the picture below is a manufacture date. It is stamped both on the action and the barrels.

Is it likely that it was made in 1891 and Nitro proofed later? The barrels are also marked Fluss-Stahl, Krupp-Essen if that is a help.

Thanks!
