Words of wisdom there "Dugger"-- except the fine beavertail forearm for an LC Smith with the banjo shaped latch mechanism I recently bought from Chris on this website is NOT a big old fatty- it is gracefully tapered, grooved for a 12 gauge set of barrels (my preference) and fine checkering and finish- hairline crack at the rear adjacent to the two holes for the mounting screws that hold the iron in places, easily remedied- But I have seen fotos of some Smiths (and Ithaca NID's) with beavertail forearms that must have been made by the Louisville Slugger factory-IMO!! still love those "Sweet Elsies" though, no matter what shape her tail may be!!
