Can some of you offer recommendations about current saftey conversions for mauser actions? Who produces a M70 type at a good price? Brownell's offers all the parts to assemble one. Has anyone used these?

Well, if I were trying to get the best possible price, I would buy the stuff from Brownell's and make several, sell them on gunbroker and keep on doing this until I had reduced the price to something I was comfortable with. Having said that, I bought a Model 70 type shroud from someone that I expect did just that. I was very happy with it, if you would like more details, send me a PM.

A good price I would say is all relative but for my money I would use one of Ed Lapours model 70 style they are the nicest ones out there. If you would like a nice 2 position in the model 70 style try Jim Kobe.

I've used the NECG safeties, quality is tops. They're not inexpensive.

Gentry in Montana makes one http://www.gentrycustom.com/ He's removed pricing info from the website. Before the father died and the son took over, a year or two ago, the price was $150. I have one of their safeties and the quality is very good.

Brownells and Midway both sell the safetys also, made by NECG and Gentry.

I bought some nice ones from Jim Wisner, not sure if he's still making them.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

IMO the PME/Wisner/Lapour is the best.
