I've got a buddy that has a Win. 101 in 20 gauge. The selector is the safety button. It moves in a "U" shaped slot and occasionally gets hung up in the bottom of the "U" between the two slots that allow the button to move forward and disengage the safety.

It happens enough to be frustrating and has cost him a few shots at grouse. He'd just as soon disable the selector and have a non-selective gun

I've looked at the innards of the thing it looks like about the only way to practically do this is to weld the bottom of the "U" closed so that the safety/selector button can't come out of the slot.

I got a B-L4 a couple of years ago that has a small screw in the safety next to the selector button, blocking its movement. I've had a 686 before and never had a problem with the selector getting stuck in the middle, but I've left it there because I really never change the barrels. This doesn't seem like a very good solution for the 101 since the safety button would have to ride against the screw.

Any ideas for a solution to this?

Thanks.
