Three of my favorite rifles. And I can even buy center-fire cartridges for one of them at just about any sports shop.

Educate us on the rifles, they look like a civilian version of the old breech-loader (Kammerlader sp?). If memory serves me they were originally a cap lock rifle that loaded from the breech? Or am I thinking of a different rifle?

Michael,
You are thinking correctly. The action is very similar to the Kammerlader. However with the external lever being on a cam that moves the breech-block downward instead of upward like the Kammerlader. It is very similar to the Martini Henry. Although when closing the breech it actually extends it about 1/4 inch into the barrel sealing the chamber.

And that readily available ammo would be .300 Ultra Mag?

Well not quite The top rifle is chambered in 6.5X55 Swedish. The same round used by the Swedish military well into the 1970s. A very nice flat shooting cartridge.
Now the bottom two are the large bores. the middle one in about 40 and the bottom about 50 cal. Of course originally black powder rounds. Still not the pressure of the ultra mag but twice the lead.

Were these made by a large company or in small gunmaking shops.

These three rifles were sold by a large sporting goods distributor by the name of Hagen. I am not sure if they were actually made by Hagen or other gunsmiths. It is my understanding that Hans Larsen a Norwegian gunsmith from Drammen designed the rifle. Hans Larsen having workshops in Norway and Belgium.
