Might want to look at this gun as a starting point.
http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=144175815It does not have ejectors. Some call that a plus others see it as a minus. Rare is the day that my shooting is so fast I need ejectors to empty the chambers for that fast a reload. It is a later Savage made gun and the fit and finish may be less than the early Phily.. Early guns tend to be well worn but many seem to have better fit and finish assuming any remains. 28" barrels are a plus. If it goes for less than $1200.00 some one will have a very nice gun that could be upgraded easily.
The pitting on the barrels should be a fairly easy fix. New stock, little metal refining and improved engraving would make this a fine gun to carry and shoot.
