I spent a few days hunting in a light mist with my Merkel 1620 with straight grip. I'd like to remove the stock to make sure the trigger mechanisms are dry.

I removed the trigger guard and the screw that passes through the lower tang and engages threads in the upper tang just behind the safety. The stock then came loose, and when I tried to slide it off the action it easily moved back about 3/8," but then abruptly hung up on something. No matter what angle I tried to pull the stock off at, it still hung up in the same spot.

I couldn't see any other screw to remove that would have allowed me to fully remove the stock . . . so what am I missing?

Can anyone tell me the procedure for removing my stock?

TIA.
