Did the late 3 pin Skeet come with a solid red Winchester pad or could a ventilated be had?

I have never seen a three pin with a solid red 1922 pad. Most came in buttplate persuasion and some in vent pad dress.

to bring those prices would it have to be stamped skeet on the receiver, as opposed to a skeet configuration and choke but no stamp?

No, the SKEET marked receiver is era specific. A 1955 two pin skeet grade in mint condition with great wood, for instance, would not be SKEET marked, but could be worth $2200.00 or more. I may be a bit conservative on mint two pin skeets. They may sell for a bit more than $2200.00, more like $3000.00.

Asking permission to jump into this topic with a question. I picked up a Mdl 12 30in 20 gauge yesterday. The firing pin was protruding from the bolt. When I romoved the bolt assembly, I was able to push the firing pin back in and it does not seem to move with the rear of what I assume to be the back end of the firing pin(end the hammer hits). My question is, with the bolt out, how is the firing pin removed? Seem to be several gents here that know mdl 12's. Thanks JW

Remove the screw that holds the fireing pin retractor in place . This screw should be staked so be careful when removeing it. With the screw removed lift the retractor out of the top of the bolt. Remove the retractor spring . Fireing pin should now come out of the back side of the bolt.

eightbore- thanks for the comment. i have found the published info on "era specific" markings hard to come by or use. once again this means i have probably passed up a few keepers.

We have all passed up a few good ones. The mint or very minty Y Skeet I mentioned was still for sale at an asking $650.00 when I left the gun show Sunday night. I guess I should have bought it.

I can't get the picture to come up. It keeps coming up a lever action rifle for me. But, it doesn't matter what the serial is- the Y Model 12s started at serial number 2,000,000. So, if the serial number is less than that, it shouldn't be a Y Model. And a Y Model will have a Y stamped before the serial number. As far as price goes, I would think it would depend on the area of the country, obviously. I nice vented Y Model 12 around here would run in the $1000.00 range. I am talking really nice. A vented Model 12 stamped SKEET should go for a lot more than that like was mentioned. And eightbore, if you saw a mint Y Model skeet for $650.00- you should have bought it. It is probably worth twice that much. The more the Model 12s keep dwindling, the more the value will go up. Now, even the nice Y Models are getting scarce. People are starting to treat them like a regular one. So, the value on them will continue to rise too. Good luck.
