I'm looking at a Midland SLNE and would like a bit of help from our Brit double-savvy board. Here are the vital stats: 12 ga. 2 3/4", 30 in steel barrels, choked cylinder and improved modifed. Lever about centered. Described as tight and on face. Greener crossbolt. Receiver and sidelocks finished bright, modest but attractive scroll engraving. Barrels, lever, and trigger bow reblued. Bores polished. Stock appears refinished properly, dimensions good with slight cast-off. Screws in alignment and good condition. Markings: 15over 1, crown over BP twice, 12 in a diamond twice, NITRO PROOF 1 1/4, 2 3/4", left bbl marked CHOKE (2?). Price range? Other considerations? Thanks. --Jack

what kind of wall thickness and how much polish? Barrel condition is everything with brit doubles. Sounds like 1500 to 2500 depending on the barrel condition and the quality of the refresh. Steve

15/1 means a .685 bore 9" from the breech, according to the chart in W W Greener's "The Gun and its Development". Since 12 is .729, that is quite a tight bore. You sure its a "15" and not a "13"? 13 would be more usual.
At any rate, as friend SKB points out - find the bore sizes and wall thicknesses now. See how much the thing has been polished/honed. I would expect a Midland gun to run in the lower end of SKB's price range.
Good luck with your find.
Regards

You are right, the proofs are 13/1. Old eyes. Checking with the seller on wall thickness. Refinishing was done in Enland, finisher not known, but looks a proper job, at least in pictures. Thanks. --Jack
