I have a 4 3/4 pound Francotte Knockabout ejector 28 that is uncomfortable to shoot with standard 1200 fps 3/4 ounce loads. I cut the shot load back to just over 1/2 ounce, fill the shell with a fiber wad and the resulting shell sounds good, breaks clay birds well, and does not recoil. Although my gun has 65 mm chambers, I do not cut my hulls. I'm sure the pressure is quite low and does no damage to the gun.
