Although I would probably never consider shortening the barrels on my nicer SxS, I am considering shortening the barrel of an inexpensive SxS for my Cowboy Actin Shooting. Would shortening the barrels dramatically change the Point of Impact ?

I saw a Fox Sterlingworth at a show yesterday that somebody cut to 24 inches. It was a 20 ga. It made me a little sick.

A few years ago I saw a Rigby SLE shortened for a cowboy action shooter. It was one of a pair. It was at Collectors Firearms in Houston. Rumor had it that Dusty Hill form ZZ Top was going to buy it. Those barrels were about 20 inches long. Just criminal.

Yeah, but I'll bet the guy that belled the ends of the barrels felt sicker. I would guess the shortening of those was from an obstruction event.

Gents:

For anyone who is ever tempted to do the "hacksaw job" on a decent gun, dont.

The shorter barrels are NOT faster, and its easy to swing by your target and miss.

I have shot CAS with a 30" barrel gun just as fast as the real shorties.

Of course, its you gun, do what you want, but really and truly, there is no need.

Regards

GKT
