Lead Fouling - Barrel Ring ??

Is it possible to have so much lead fouling in a set of SxS barrels, that when you hang them from the hook they don't ring. Instead they have a dull thud sound to them. I can't find a loose rib any where. I have a set of Parker, 16 gauge, 30" 0 frame, barrels I've been working on for 2 days, trying to remove all the lead fouling in them. I hope they'll be good, ounce I get all the lead out.

Dave I doubt it. I've learned to never say "never" but I'd say theres something loose somewhere.

Dave, May I suggest using Spot Check by Magnaflux on them. Used by welders to check for cracks. Comes with 3 cans, one is a cleaner, the other a dye (red) and the other can a developer (white). Wipes off with no problem. After you spray on the dye, let sit, and then wipe as clean as you can get it, use a tooth brush near the rib area so as not to leave any dye along seam. Then spray on developer, thin film, let dry. When dry if any cracks are present, they show up as a red line.
Magnaflux company out of Chicago. Find it on eBay, or at a local welding supply.
