Thanks for the opinion and I'm not sure when the rifled tube inserts, or rifled inserts period, really became common but if the example was post WWII like many of Ludwig Borownik's I would guess there was an insert that accompied it. Then again there might be a milled slot in the right tube for the insert, if there was one.

99.9% of Austrian/German Büchsflinten (Cape Guns) have rifled barrel on right-hand side. In addition, rifle trigger should be a set trigger; is there one on this specimen, or to put it in another way, is there a set trigger screw (or at least a provision for one) on the right-hand trigger?

No, the gun has neither a set trigger nor a provision for a set trigger screw. Is there another explanation for the bushed firing pin for the right barrel only?

Does the bushing appear newer than the gun itself? Maybe the pin hole was damaged/enlarged during use and the bushing was installed by a gunsmith at that time.

It's difficult to say if the bushing is newer than the gun, but your hypothesis seems plausible.

 I don't see any slots for a tube insert so there may have been an additional set of tubes. Kind Regards, Raimey rse
