I agree the 30-06 in a model 70 is not very high on the collectos list and this shop in my area pretty much proved that, They were asking $999 for about a year and dropped it to $899 a couple months ago, they are closing soon and told me if I wanted it for $600 I could have it. Seems to me most pre 64's will bring close to that amount. I'm more of a collector and like the fact it's early production. I just don't know how much this extra hole affects the collector interst/value. If/when the time comes to sell it I would want to get my money out of it.
