I have an ANSLEY H. FOX, 12 ga., serial number 2838.
Does anyone know when it was built? Thanks, BWANAMICK

Nice work Pawnbroker. I'm almost ready for engraving on my own Fox and am contemplating some ideas. Why did you decided against having the Fox name engraved on the action? I've notice this on a few custom Fox's and I'm wondering if this is omitted for stylistic reasons or for cost reasons(or other). Thanks for sharing.

I like the leaf on the rib and extension at breech. Looks a bit like the treatment the rib ramps get on a swamped ribbed Frenchie. Is there something similar at the muzzle? The "negative space" bit on the frame certainly shows the lineage of the engraving choice. I also noticed the deep thumbhole on the stock. Is the profile uniquely "riflesque" or duped from another shotgun (Fox or other) stock?

Very nice work and congrats all around. I only have one question, and let me go ahead and apologize for my ignorance on this matter. Will someone explain to me the "protruding" tang screws? Have I missed something that was obvious. I don't necessarily think they look bad, I have just never seen tang screws that were not installed perfectly flush. Nonetheless, a really beautiful piece of work.

The reason he said "almost finished" is he hasn't timed and re-cut the tang screw slots yet. Usually, these are aligned for perfect "North, South" orientation, or, with both slots lined up the length of the trigger guard tang.
You might not get that on a production gun, it is custom/high grade type detail, and a nice one.

Ted

Absolutely beautiful, wonderful work. I wonder if "someone" will consider this "butchery"?

Pawnbroker

Where did you get the stock machined? How much did you have to bend the lower tang?
A very nice looking Fox.

Nice job and a gun Pawnbroker can be proud of.

If anyone is all fired up about a Fox project, I have a 12g ejector 28" that seems to be in good mechanical condition, but has been poorly restocked and has nearly no original finish, some light barrel dents, etc. It's a good candidate for a custom. I'll give Dave the ad fee.
