Isn't it wonderful when everybody abides by the rules?! You "duplexers" should be ashamed of yourselves! And, you brag about what you did! You guys sure set a wonderful example! And, just when do you plan to send back the awards that you won?
BP loads should be "fresh", especially if they are to be used in damp conditions. The old Limey gunners used to save their dampened loads for "junk bird" (my term) shooting. Old-time gunfighters, like Wild Bill Hickock, used to fire off, clean, and then reload their percussion revolvers every day. This practice is still a good idea when m.l. guns are used for hunting. (There were good reasons why the hunters in "Peter and the Wolf" fired off their guns on their way home.)
If you plan to use a "replica powder", I suppose that Pyrodex or 777 should work as well as anything else. Just make sure that proper wad pressure is used (Pyrodex, in particular likes things "snuggy".) Also, make sure that your powder is fresh. Dry BP has a very long shelf life. Pyrodex, in particular, does not. Oh, by the way, these powders have to be kept dry, too.
